Happy 150, friends! I hope that your weekend is off to a great start. Here's the deal - this Canada Day is full of many things. It's packed with fireworks, parades, and large stadiums. There's probably a cold drink or a good dinner waiting for you somewhere.
But there's also a bigger history of colonization, of accountability, and of trying to get better. It's Canada 150, but it's Mi'kma'ki 13,000.
It's no secret that here at Smoking Lily we love where we live, but we also think critically and try to be kind inhabitants of this place. At the end of the day, it's a privilege to make clothing for you which so often bears the mark of where we live and what we love about it. Here is a little collection of the things we've made for you, which we know would look beautiful for whatever it is you get up to this weekend.
The obvious - our loved and ever-changing Simple Tee. This time in a bright Red with Tulip Heads.
You're well acquainted with our Kapow dress by now - its va-va-voom cut, its pockets (!!!) and its picnic-worthy practicality. But we've brought it back for you in Hibiscus red, perfect for this weekend.
We've written about Tim Hoey before on our blog, but we thought his latest batch of paintings was timely. The assortment above is for sale at our Victoria location, on 1713 Government St.
Both locations will be open from 11 - 5 on Saturday, and then we're back to our regular hours. Enjoy your long weekend!
